Press Release: First Look at Zombie Apocalypse "Escaping the Dead"

FIRST LOOK AT ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE "ESCAPING THE DEAD"

The good old classic quote "There's something rotten in the state of Denmark" rings true these days, although it is probably not quite in the way it was meant when written by William Shakespeare in "Hamlet"!
In directors Martin Sonntag and Bastian Brinch Pedersen's near-doomsday prediction "Escaping the Dead", Copenhagen reeks of rotten flesh after having come under attack of the living dead and the last remaining survivors fight for their lives.

The film stars Bastian Brinch Pedersen (who is also the co-director and producer of the film) as David, Rama Øzel as Ahmir, along with Daniel Hutera, Ali Öezkan, Iben Ma Bønnelycke, Nicolai Huan Nguyen, Camilla Ludvigsen and Kim Sønderholm ("Blood Fare", "The Winedancers", "Sinister Visions") playing Lars - a policeman that David comes across during his run out of the city.

Director Martin Sonntag about the film:

"The film is inspired by a series of articles about the deathdrug "Krokodil" that was published about the same period of time when Ronald Poppo had his face eaten by a naked man hooked on bath-salts in Miami. We saw it as the perfect zombie plot: a death-drug that turns people into zombies.

The film has its starting point in a typical day for the lead character, David. David is the local marijuana pusher, but he is the kind of dealer that smokes more than he sells. In the meantime the country has been hit by a new death-drug and when David and his partner in crime Ahmir is offered some exceptionally cheap cocaine they see it as an opportunity to earn big money at the big techno concert the following Friday, but the cocaine turns out to have a terrible side effect that creates a giant zombie outbreak that spreads across the entire Copenhagen. In the film we follow David and his bloody fight out of the city."

Press Release: 'Chopping Mall' Digitally Remastered and Seeking Theatrical Bookings

On March 21st, 1986, a film was released by legendary producer Roger Corman that today still is recognized as a genre classic. “Chopping Mall” produced by Julie Corman and helmed by exploitation wunderkind, Jim Wynorski was released during the VHS/home video explosion and would change the way the business perceived the place of genre titles within this emerging market place.

The film tells the story of killer security robots taking over a shopping mall and systematically murdering a group of trespassing teenagers who have broken into the mall for an all night party. Four couples decide to have a party in one of the furniture stores where three of them work. They all stay after hours at the mall, drinking, partying, and make-out, while the fourth couple watch old science fiction films on TV.

Outside, a lightning storm strikes the mall several times and damages the computer controlling the security robots. The robots kill two technicians and a janitor, before going on regular patrol in the now empty mall. Two of the teens leave the furniture store and are subsequently killed by the robots The surviving teens witness the robots kill a girl in still talked about head explosion, and the men and women are forced to separate, the men into the mall and the women into the air ducts, when the robots begin their final attack.
Directed by Wynorski who co wrote it with long time friend Steve Mitchell. Chopping Mall was filmed primarily at the infamous Sherman Oaks Galleria famous for appearing in Fast Times At Ridgemont High. The movie stars Kelli Maroney ( Night of the Comet, Fast Times At Ridgemont High, Ryan's Hope) and Tony O'Dell. B Movie icons Paul Bartel ,Mary Woronov and Dick Miller , fixtures in the Corman stable have cameo's in the film.

While the film did moderate theatrical business, where it really made an impact was in the burgeoning home video marketplace. Released through Lightning video, the B Movie label owned by Vestron, Chopping Mall equipped with compelling box art created by artist Corey Wolfe. Chopping Mall proved to rental outlet that B Movies coupled with great box art could easily out perform mainstream studio produced fare and could have longer shelf lives. The title coupled with the artwork screamed “rent me” to America's VHS hungry public, and they consumed it hungrily. It could be argue that lying within the success of Chopping Mall laid the foundation for the next decades video rental industry.

Fast forward to 2013, Jim Wynorski and producer Bill Dever decided that with the transition to digital delivery now employed by ninety percent of movies theaters it was time to re-introduce Chopping Mall to North American Theaters. “ I was always amazed that every recent showing of Chopping Mall always turned into an event” says Jim Wynorski “ People really love the movie and for me the guy who directed the film, that’s just great”.

With the kind support of Roger and Julie Corman, Wynorski and Dever obtained the original film elements and under the careful eye of Jim Wynorski brought the film back to its original glory. “ This is a dream come true, to play a small part in the restoration of a piece of classic American cinema is just amazing” tells Bill Dever “ Not only is Chopping Mall pure movie fun, its also in many ways an important film”.

So with the help of Roger and Julie Corman, Jim Wynorski's Chopping Mall will once more grace the theater screens again. Reminding movie going audiences of a time when movies were just fun......

Press Release: WithAnO Productions Releases Theatrical Trailer for Ultra Violent Horror Flick "Muck"

WITHANO PRODUCTIONS RELEASES THEATRICAL TRAILER FOR ITS UPCOMING HYPER VIOLENT HORROR FLICK, "MUCK"

"Muck" Film Stars Horror Legend Kane Hodder and the 2012 Playboy Playmate of the Year

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LOS ANGELES – October 23, 2013 – Following up on its teaser trailer that generated over 30 articles in the horror community and earned the only horror film panel at Stan Lee's Comikaze Expo 2013, WithanO Productions just released the theatrical trailer for its upcoming "Muck" film.  "Muck" stars the horror legend Kane Hodder ("Friday the 13th" 7-10, "Hatchet" trilogy) and the new Scream Queen, 2012 Playboy Playmate of the Year, Jaclyn Swedberg.  The trailer will provide a more in-depth look at the film, and it can be seen at http://youtu.be/EJUg8D3VpSQ or on the film’s website, www.getthemuckout.com.

"Muck" was filmed completely on the Red Epic in Ultra HD over the course of 19 grueling all-night shoots.  Shot entirely on location in the swamps and marshes of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, this dangerous shoot was nearly impossible when you factor in first-time director Steve Wolsh produced “Muck” on a mirco-budget of $200,000.

Although an independent feature, "Muck" matches the quality of any top Hollywood film.  By using the industry's preferred 4K HD camera, "Muck" images surpassed larger budget indie films even before DaVinci color correction.   For the record, the Red cameras used weren’t “stolen”, just "borrowed without asking" and returned with minimal water damage.  Moreover, after Universal Studios viewed the first cut of the film, the powerhouse agreed to mix "Muck" for theatre surround sound on the Universal lot.

Besides the Horror Legend and Playmate of the Year, "Muck" features an amazing cast of up-and-coming actors, led by Australian hunk Lachlan Buchanan ("Newcastle", "Pretty Little Liars", and "NCIS: Red") and Indian beauty Puja Mohindra.  Very few Hollywood films feature strong lead roles for Indian actresses, and this is a first for any American horror film, a breakout role for Mohindra.

The “Muck” production did not make it easy on the actors, though.  SAG expressed concern during production of this film, stating, “‘Muck’ is, without a doubt, one of the top 5 most violent scripts we have ever seen come through.”  With concern from SAG, horror fans can rejoice about stunts in the upcoming film:  in-water fighting, full-body fire burns, high-impact falls, and even a naked woman thrown through glass.
All things for “Muck,” the next big franchise in horror, can be found at www.getthemuckout.com:  videos/photos/gifs and more.

Press Release: The B Movie World Gathers in Illinois This Weekend

What do Sharknado, Nightmare On Elm Street, Chopping Mall, Lost Empire, Witchboard and Armed Response all have in common? They are are all part of the B Movie Celebration being held October 25th-28th at the Hollywood Boulevard Cinema in Woodbridge, Illinois.

All together 26 amazing B feature films with 42 B movie shorts are being screened. We are very proud to be hosting 7 world premieres and over 12 North American Premieres. If you love B Movies, then the Hollywood Boulevard is the place to be this weekend. In attendance at the B Movie Celebration will be Freddy Krueger himself, Robert Englund. Joining Robert will be legendary B Movie Directors Jim Wynorski, Fred Olen Ray and Kevin Tenney, each screening one or more of their classic titles. This is a perfect chance to sit down with practitioners of the cinematic arts one on one.

Often the term B movie is thought to be one of derision and scorn. Low budget B or Genre filmmaking are thought to be second class or in some way inferior. We at the B Movie Celebration know otherwise. We know that for the most part the grand American cinematic tradition has evolved from origins in B Movies. Press Release: New Kicstarter Eco-Thriller 'Strange Nature' Takes on Unsolved Ecological Mystery

Unsolved Ecological Mystery Exposed by New Film Strange Nature

Ojala Productions, a Hollywood Special Makeup/Creature Effects company is actively pursuing funding on Kickstarter for the upcoming Eco-Thriller feature film Strange Nature by writer/director Jim Ojala. This is the first film to confront real unsolved frog deformity outbreaks in the U.S. and where they may lead.

North Hollywood, CA) Wednesday September 25, 2013- Writer/Director, Jim Ojala, President of Ojala Productions set to direct Strange Nature. The Eco-Thriller feature film is based on a true unsolved ecological mystery, where thousands of hideously deformed frogs have turned up in the waters of Minnesota and beyond.

Jim Ojala, a Duluth, Minnesota native said that he was intrigued by the Minnesota mutant frog outbreak when he saw the news story on ABC Nightline in 1996. (See Story). After watching the newscast, Jim’s first thought was what if the deadly mutations went beyond the frogs?

Ojala followed the story over the next few years, to find that thousands of hideously mutated frogs were still being discovered. The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency investigated the mutation problem and derived several possible theories for the cause, but no conclusion was determined. In 2001, the U.S. Government pulled all research funding. The malformations have since spread to other states and even other countries-- most recently, reports from Argentina, China, and India.

For the current state of U.S. frog deformities, Ojala consulted with Dr. Pieter Johnson an Ecologist at the University of Colorado and discovered a shocking revelation. Dr. Johnson explained, “Despite reduced coverage in the media, deformed amphibians continue to be widespread and abundant in many areas. In our research in the western USA, we have described several thousand severely malformed frogs in the last three years alone, including animals with missing legs, extra limbs, and misshapen limbs. The percentage of abnormal animals at a wetland often exceeds 15% and at several sites we consistently find >80% malformed. At one pond in Oregon, every single emerging frog suffered from one or more deformities, with many animals dying before they could complete metamorphosis.” -Dr. Pieter Johnson Ecologist, University of Colorado- August, 28, 2013

The true events are the basis for Strange Nature. “It is both a thriller and a drama film of sorts”, explains Ojala, “seen through the eyes of a single-mother and her 11-year old son as the drama unfolds on a small Minnesota town which struggles to survive when the deadly mutations move beyond the ponds.” Ojala passionately believes this is a critical time for this film to be made, “it exposes a true environmental issue that has been swept under the carpet far too long”.

With the hope of attracting more attention to the ongoing deformed frog cases some U.S. Ecologists have supported Strange Nature to the extent that they have even provided live severely deformed frogs to be featured in the film which you can see in the Kickstarter pitch video.

Ojala’s goal in making this film is two-fold: 1) to bring the story to the public attention after eighteen years and 2) to trigger further research funding which could lead to finding the cause and prevent the mutations from spreading to other species.

Once production funding is secured for Strange Nature, Ojala will move forward with principal photography which will shoot in Minnesota. Currently, a fundraising campaign for the film is on Kickstarter until October 10th.

So far the film has attracted the likes of Carlos Alazraqui (Reno 911) and WWE Superstar Wrestler, John “Nitro” Hennigan. Both actors are set to co-star in the film.
About Jim Ojala and Ojala Productions

After graduating high school from Duluth, MN in 1995 Jim Ojala joined the local Public Access Station where he was given the opportunity to learn all aspects of video production. He collaborated with friends to create and direct a local cable-TV series, My Three Scums, a notorious horror/comedy series revolving around a family of misfits, freaks and monsters which continued for 3 years and garnered a large local following.

The success of My Three Scums, opened the door to Ojala’s first film job with Troma Studios in New York on the film, Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger 4.

Following Citizen Toxie, Ojala went on to work with Tim Considine of Direct Effects in the special makeup effects department. There he worked on features, commercials, photo shoots and theatre productions. While in New York, Jim also attended the Millennium Film Program under the mentorship of experimental filmmaking pioneer, Michael Kuchar.

In 2001, Jim made the pilgrimage to Los Angeles. One of his first jobs in LA, was working on the makeup/creature effects for Buffy the Vampire Slayer and The Shield. Subsequently, he has also worked on numerous commercials, and features including Where the Wild Things Are and Hellboy 2 The Golden Army. Ojala’s makeup/creature effects skills continue to be a strong force in the independent film world providing makeup effects for the critically hailed, Deadgirl, as well as working with Legacy Studios on Pacific Rim.

Jim’s directing credits range from short films, TV Pilots, to music videos including: The viral hit Marvel Zombies the Movie Fan Film, Harvest- a TV pilot based on a one hour Sci-fi Thriller TV series, and Deviled Egg, a music video for the popular Los Angeles Band, The Radioactive Chicken Heads just to name a few.

Press Release: "Welcome To Nowhere" Streaming for Free

SURREALIST ROAD MOVIE “WELCOME TO NOWHERE (BULLET HOLE ROAD)” NOW STREAMING FOR FREE ON NOBUDGE.COM

Exclusive online premiere is available from September 17 through October 18 on Kentucker Audley’s recently expanded indie film streaming site NoBudge.com

New York, September 17, 2013 - NoBudge.com will be presenting the online streaming premiere of the award-winning film Welcome to Nowhere (Bullet Hole Road) from Tuesday, September 17 until October 18. A surrealistic and dreamlike new take on the classic American road story, this experimental film follows the overlapping encounters of five strangers as they struggle to exist in the American desert.

Part live-action, part motion-graphics animation, Welcome to Nowhere (Bullet Hole Road) is a fractured, genre-bending road movie inspired by the gritty road films of the 1960’s and 70’s. In a series of warped, image-driven episodes, the fractured narrative revolves around a poet, a hitchhiker and three motel rooms doomed to violence and perversity.

Directed, Photographed and Edited by filmmaker and video artist William Cusick, whose work has been called “mind-blowing” by Jason Zinoman of the New York Times, the film indelibly imprints unique and stunning moments throughout its brief but intense 55 minutes.

Welcome to Nowhere (Bullet Hole Road) premiered at the LES* Film Festival in 2012, received the Founder’s Choice Award at the Queens World Film Festival in 2013, Best Supporting Actress (Cara Francis) at the 2012 Dreamland International Film Festival, and was an official selection of the 2012 PollyGrind Festival, 2013 Cinetarium Festival and the 2013 Scare-A-Con Festival. The film was featured in the inaugural issue of Chance Magazine, the most innovative art magazine about American theater designers ever published.

About NoBudge.com
No Budge covers the world of true indie films. It was started in February 2011 by filmmaker Kentucker Audley to premiere and compile true indie films. Free + no ads + no piracy. It has been called “innovative” (Filmmaker Magazine) and “indispensable” (GreenCine).

“Audley’s fierce devotion to truly independent American cinema is vital. His commitment to treating the micro-budget form with the utmost seriousness is needed now more than ever.”
